Introducing

Real lake reports. No BS.

The Drop is a paid monthly membership for serious Colorado stillwater anglers. Two live calls a month, a private member group, member-only fly patterns, real lake reports, and 20% off everything in the shop — all built around what's actually working on Antero, Spinney, 11 Mile, Delaney, and the rest of the rotation right now.

It's a mastermind, not a webinar. Every call, every member brings something to the table — recent trip reports, conditions, hatches and food sources, lakes they're trying to crack, rigs that aren't working. We pool what we're seeing on the water and work the problems together. Thomas anchors the call with his Colorado stillwater knowledge and experience, and occasional special guests — well-known Colorado anglers — drop in to mastermind alongside the group. The real value compounds when serious anglers compare notes in the same room.

Why now? The Colorado stillwater scene is underserved. Generic YouTube tells you how to tie a chironomid in 8 minutes. It doesn't tell you what's hitting at 17 feet on the south side of Antero this Tuesday because the water hit 52°F on Sunday. That gap — between general knowledge and right-now knowledge — is what The Drop fills.

Who it's for: intermediate-to-advanced anglers who fish CO stillwaters five or more times a year, already run indicators and balanced flies, and want a real edge. Not a beginner's class. Not a magazine. A working group of people serious enough to put time and money behind dialing their game in.

What You Get

Built for anglers who already put in the work.

The free Crew newsletter covers the basics. The Drop is a working mastermind — members pool real-time intel on conditions, food sources, locations, and patterns, and we sharpen each other's game on the water.

🧠

Mastermind Format

Not a lecture. Every member brings intel — conditions, food sources, locations, recent trips, rigs that aren't working — and we work the problems together. Your stuck rig becomes everyone's lesson. Their breakthrough becomes your next trip.

📞

Bi-Weekly Live Calls

Two member calls per month, 60–90 minutes. Open-floor mastermind with Thomas anchoring. Every call recorded and archived for members who can't make it live.

🎙️

Guest Anglers

Occasional special guests — well-known Colorado anglers — drop in to mastermind with the group. Not an interview format. They're in the room, working the same problems with us, sharing what they're seeing on the water.

🎣

Real Lake Reports

Honest conditions reporting from the water — temperatures, levels, what's working, what isn't. No marketing fluff. No "everywhere is great."

🪲

What's Hitting & What They're Eating

Hatch timing by water temp. Pattern of the week. Stomach pumps and seine results from recent trips, called out as they come in.

📏

Depth & Technique Deep-Dives

Indicator depth tuning, leech retrieves, balanced rigging, when to swap colors. Walk-throughs of the calls Thomas makes mid-trip.

🧵

Member-Only Fly Patterns

Patterns and tying sheets we don't share publicly. Founding members get first look at new patterns before they hit the shop.

👥

Member Community

Private member group. Ask questions between calls, share trip reports, compare notes on conditions in real time. Platform shared in your welcome email.

💰

Member Product Discount

20% off all orders on trouttricks.com — every fly, every sticker, every drop. Member-only code, no expiry.

Early Access to Drops

How the Call Runs

The Drop is a mastermind, not a webinar. Format stays loose on purpose so the conversation can chase what's actually hot that week — but every call orbits the same questions: what's hitting, where, what are they eating, and how are members rigging for it?

Members come prepared with something — a recent trip report, a hatch they can't crack, a lake they're trying to figure out, a fly that's not earning, a depth or retrieve question. We work it together as a group. Conditions, food sources, locations, depth tuning, fly selection, retrieves — all on the table. Thomas anchors with his knowledge and tying-bench context, and occasional special guests — well-known Colorado anglers — drop in to mastermind with the group. The real edge comes from serious anglers pooling what they're seeing on the water in real time.

Show up. Bring intel. Leave with a better next trip.

Straight Talk

What The Drop is and isn't.

We're not in the business of burning fisheries. The Drop helps you fish smarter, not chase trophies onto redds.

What This Isn't

  • GPS-tagged spawn locations or "where the big fish are right now"
  • A pin-drop service for redds — that's not how we treat the resource
  • Hot-spot leaking — we won't blow up fragile waters for clicks
  • Recycled blog content you've already read for free
  • A guarantee. Fish do what fish do.

What This Is

  • Spawn timing — when to fish a water and when to leave it alone
  • Pre- and post-spawn patterns — feeding fish, not bedding fish
  • Hatch timing by water temperature, by lake
  • Closures and alternative water rotations as conditions change
  • Real-time conditions — temps, levels, wind, ice-off, turnover
  • Technique refinement and pattern development

Before You Sign Up

The 3 questions people ask first.

Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime, no questions, no exit fees. The one catch: if you're a founding member and you cancel, the founding rate is gone — re-joining later means joining at standard pricing.
What if I can't make a live call?
No problem. Every call is recorded and posted to the member archive within 24 hours. You can also drop questions into the member group ahead of time and Thomas will cover them on the call — you'll get the answer in the recording.
Why $20 for founding members?
The first 10 are taking a bet on a new thing. The founding rate is locked for life as a thank-you. Once those 10 fill, the founding tier closes forever and new members join at $35/mo — full price.

Questions

FAQ

What is The Drop?
The Drop is a paid monthly membership for serious Colorado stillwater fly anglers. It's the premium tier above the free Crew newsletter. Members get bi-weekly live calls, real conditions reporting, technique deep-dives, member-only fly patterns, a 20% product discount, and a private member community.
How is this different from the free newsletter?
The Crew newsletter is broad — patterns, blog posts, general tips, occasional product drops. The Drop is real-time and tactical: what's actually happening on Antero, Spinney, 11 Mile, Delaney, and the rest of the rotation right now. Live calls. Live Q&A. A community of members talking shop.
How is this different from YouTube, Instagram, and the forums?
YouTube and IG are general and evergreen — they don't know your lake hit 52°F on Sunday. Forums are noisy and mostly anonymous; you're guessing whether the poster has actually fished the water. The Drop is small, current, and accountable: real names, real recent trips, a tyer/guide running the call, and a member community that compares notes in real time. It's the difference between watching a tutorial and standing next to someone on the water.
When do the calls happen?
Bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings, 7:00–8:30 PM MT. Two calls per month. Every call is recorded and posted to the member archive within 24 hours.
What if I can't make a live call?
No problem. Calls are recorded and archived. You can ask questions ahead of time in the member group and Thomas will cover them on the call — you'll get the answer in the recording.
What video platform do you use?
Calls run on Zoom or Google Meet — the link gets shared with members ahead of each call. No app installs required; works in a browser.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime, no questions, no exit fees. If you're a founding member and you cancel, the founding rate is gone — re-joining later means joining at standard pricing.
Why $20 for founding members?
The first 10 members are taking a bet on a new thing. The founding rate is locked for life as a thank you. Once 10 are in, the founding tier closes forever and new members join at $35/mo.
Is this for me?
If you already fish stillwaters in Colorado a few times a month, run an indicator setup, and want to dial in conditions and technique faster — yes. If you're brand new to fly fishing, start with the free newsletter and a guided trip first.
Do I need to live in Colorado?
No. The content is Colorado-focused — Antero, Spinney, 11 Mile, Delaney, Lake John, and the rest of the rotation — so it lands best for anglers fishing those waters. If you're in Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, or visiting CO from out of state, plenty of the technique deep-dives (depth tuning, retrieve, balanced rigs, hatch timing) translate. The lake reports won't.
When does the first call happen?
The first call date locks in once the founding 10 fills (or we hit a critical mass on the waitlist). Waitlist members get the call date in their first email.
One More Thing

Founding 10 spots will go fast.
